Voltage dips in the supply network – our current analysis shows an accumulation of critical events

In recent days, there has been a noticeable increase in voltage dips in the public power grid at the feed-in point of our company premises. The events were recorded using a high-resolution network analyzer of the type PQube 3 the company Powerside The analysis shows that several voltage drops, some of them severe, occurred within a few hours – including one drop on below 10 V in at least one phase. Such a low voltage value is far outside the standard limits and can cause significant disruptions or failures in sensitive processes.

Causes and consequences

Voltage dips (English) voltage sags or dips) are often caused by short circuits, switching operations, or high inrush currents in the upstream network. In industrial environments, they can have significant consequences – from process interruptions to faulty controls to damage to electronic components.

Recognition with PQube 3 – precise, permanent, available worldwide

To monitor the voltage quality, we use Company feed-in the compact network analyzer PQube 3 This device not only measures voltage dips, swells and interruptions according to EN 50160 and IEC 61000-4-30 Class A, but also:

  • Harmonics

  • Supraharmonic interference up to 150 kHz

  • Current and voltage curves with high-resolution waveform recording

  • Flicker, frequency and asymmetry

The measurement data is transmitted via the QubeScan cloud solution automatically archived and processed. This means that worldwide access to event reports, trends and long-term data possible in real time – without local software installation.

Why this is important

A stable supply voltage is the foundation for safe operation – especially in industrial applications with sensitive machines, control systems, or IT systems. Power quality analysis provides crucial information, especially in the case of unexplained system malfunctions or sporadic errors.

With our PQube systems we not only offer the measurement technology, but also the technical evaluation and individual advice on the interpretation of the results and possible countermeasures – from mains filter solutions to the optimization of internal power distribution.
